Eriksson targeting podium return in second leg of British double
For the second week in succession, the Blancpain GT Series field sets camp in Britain as the Sprint Cup meeting at Brands Hatch is traded for round two of the Endurance Cup campaign at Silverstone. Jimmy Eriksson is back in the #84 HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 this weekend, and the Swede is eager to move on from a disappointing showing last time out.
“We had a tough weekend at Brands Hatch for various reasons, and after something like that you always want to get back in the car again and give it another go,” says Jimmy Eriksson. “That’s why I’m extra pleased to have this race at Silverstone coming up so quickly. It’s an Endurance Cup round this weekend, and a completely different track, so it’s a brand new set of opportunities – and we’ll try to make the very most of them.”
Eriksson – along with team-mates Maximilian Buhk (GER) and Franck Perera (FRA) – scored a podium in the opening Endurance Cup round at Monza (ITA) three weeks ago, and is eyeing a similar performance this time out at Silverstone.
“Getting back onto the podium, or at least finishing in the top five, has to be our target this weekend,” Eriksson continues. “We know that we’ve got strong race pace, which is the key in Endurance Cup races, so that has to be our goal.”
This weekend’s race, like the Monza curtain-raiser, will run for three hours. It takes place on Sunday, while practice begins on Saturday.
